Discover Mount Vitsi

This route requires a 4X4 car and depending on the weather conditions can last 5 to 7 hours. We are given the opportunity to cross a large part of Mount Verno or Vitsi with the highest peak at 2,198m. We start from Kastoria and after passing Vyssinia we climb towards Oxya and the Vitsi Ski Center. After crossing the Ski Center and reaching the top of Vitsio, we descend towards the area of Drosopigi and from there we head towards Nymfaio, which is also our destination. The area is one of the main habitats of the brown bear. The verdant oak and beech forests give the visitor enchanting images from a low altitude, especially in the Fall. As we climb in altitude we encounter alpine meadows where it is very likely to see herds of horses. We return through a dirt road, through the mountain settlement of Perikopi.
